Skyrim’s Rueful Axe themed replica finished!

Hey guys!   Sorry for the slow posting here lately, it’s been quite hectic in the shop and when that happens I tend to forget about posting up the results.  Now that the convention season is over I will get back into my usual groove, I promise! :)

Today’s projects is the Rueful Axe from Skyrim, but with a few changes made mainly to the handle.  The friend who requested this piece will be using it on the wall of his Viking-style “Great Hall”.  We decided to make the handle longer to better balance the weight of that massive axe head and it also made the overall piece more substantial for displaying.

The blade was originally sculpted in clay by my pal Robert Righter.  It was then moulded and cast with resin before the paint was applied.   The handled is a combination of real wood and epoxy clay that was used to make the collar pieces as well as the ringed cap at the bottom.

Thanks for checking it out and please check back soon for more cool stuff.   If you have a chance, also check out and subscribe to my Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/johnsonarms) where I’ll be posting up videos of the finished projects as well as more tutorials and advice for those also interested in making props!   Thank you!

Custom Nerf Strongarm

Here’s a few photos of a new Nerf Strongarm pistol I’m working on. These are just progress photos, but you’ll hopefully get a feel for where its going, style-wise. :) (the carbon fiber vinyl on the cylinder is temporary for the photo)

This particular model has the full-rollout mod on the cylinder as well as the removal of both air restrictions. It’s become a pretty powerful blaster with those minor changes. Final photos should be up soon and it is available for anyone interested!

Be Well,

Foam Melee Props

Hey guys!

So I have been testing paint on foam for some big projects later this year. As a result, I think I have found a good formula to make the these foam weapons “realistic” and pretty durable. Some extended testing will be done, but I feel confident that if you need a cool prop for your convention persona, these should work great.

Email me if you have any interest in placing an order, thanks!

Added an extended barrel for accuracy, coupled with an early laser heating system to give almost instant steam power. To keep it streamlined, the water reservoir is hidden inside the insulated hand grip.

And it looks cool, even if all that stuff is completely untrue :)

So I had some parts sitting about and I decided to see if I could make a steam tank. This was just a fitting, but it’s looking just the way I envisioned it :) I think it will really be difficult to recognize this as a foam dart gun, when it’s complete. Thanks for having a look and feel free to subscribe for more stuff like this!

Tornado Alley

So the past few days have been kinda wet and rainy. Today mother nature took it up a notch with multiple tornados touching down within about 5 miles of my office. I still put in some time at the shop, but every noise outside sounded very “tornado-y”. Yep, it’s a word, look it up! 😉

The PDK and Jayne’s sidearm are coming along nicely, as are the alpha troopers, mavericks and longstrike. If the weather lets up as it’s supposed to, I’ll have some pictures to show in a few days!

I did want to let everyone know I have quite a few listings on ebay right now, with very reasonable starting and BIN prices. Have a look if you’re looking for something unique. Thanks!

Have a great weekend!
